Acceptance criteria

Acceptance criteria

What are acceptance criteria?

Acceptance criteria is a pragmatic approach to agreeing on how to confirm that a user story has been developed. In the 3Cs framework, the third 'C', stands for 'Confirmation', and iterates the importance of expressing clear acceptance criteria. The given-when-then format is common to use for describing how the product should behave in different scenarios, but the type and format of acceptance criteria used varies depending on situation. Sometimes it is helpful to look at different use cases to know what the relevant acceptance criteria are.

Acceptance criteria are used to help quality assurance during the development part of the product management process.
